Who We Are
To achieve our vision as a non-profit, non-partisan organisation, the Irish Green Building Council brings together business, professional, academic, voluntary, environmental and state Members to develop tools and resources for the built environment from a whole systems perspective— considering planning, transport, construction, materials, food and fuel security, energy and community together.
The range of sustainability initiatives and aspirations of all these organisations are combined to avoid duplication and overlapping of efforts and to facilitate dissemination of gathered information to all built environment participants. We believe that with greater co-ordination of research, policy, education and best practice, there is a better chance of reaching the end goal of sustainability.
Our shared consensus model of sustainability is based on scientific principles so as to avoid conflicting and adversarial purpose and to accelerate progress toward our end goal, with all participants’ activities aligned in the same direction.
Our Current Status
The Irish Green Building Council is at formation stage.
Our successful development will require the commitment of our Founder Members, all of whom have been asked to commit their time, enthusiasm and resources to create an organisation that can overcome the barriers to reaching full sustainability in the built environment.
The Irish Green Building Council is part of the European network of over 30 national Green Building Councils.
