BREEAM is the longest established environmental assessment method and rating system for buildings, with 250,000 buildings achieving certified assessment ratings and over a million registered for assessment since it was first launched in 1990. It was developed by the Building Research Establishment.
There are well over twenty certified BREEAM projects in Ireland. The scheme has been used on a range of building types including offices, industrial buildings, healthcare and education facilities for both the private and public sector. It is the system currently most closely aligned with Irish Building standards and probably the easiest to immediately apply to Irish Projects. We advise that when certifying using the system in 2017 that you also aim to meet our Guidance on Near Zero Energy Buildings to ensure that you are future proofed for the end of 2018 when the first stage of the Energy Performance Buildings Directive comes into place for the Public sector.
IGBC partners with BRE Scotland Academy to provide the full range of BREEAM training including: BREEAM International Assessor, BREEAM AP (Accredited Professional), BREEAM in Use.
