Irish Policy

The Irish Green Building Council is at the heart of inputting into national policy affecting the built environment. The regulatory system remains the key way of creating change and improving standards. Therefore IGBC makes submissions on every major policy consultation. We have been involved in proactively engaging on key projects such as the development of the Better Energy Financing scheme and the Renovation roadmap required under Article 4 of the Energy Efficiency Directive.

Recent submissions include:

DRAFT ‘Urban Development and Building Heights Guidelines for Planning Authorities’ – 09/18

DRAFT ‘Bringing Back Homes Manual for the reuse of existing buildings’ – 08/18

Consultation on Technical Guidance Documents Part F and Part L – IGBC Submission 08/06/18

Ireland 2040 – Stage 2 – IGBC Submission 10/11/17

Citizens’ Assembly’s Consultation on Climate Change – IGBC Submission 11/08/17

Public Consultation Review – Rebuilding Ireland – IGBC Submission 11/08/17

Part L – Technical Guidance Document – IGBC Submission 06/06/17

Ireland 2040 – National Planning Framework – IGBC Submission 16/03/17

Dublin Local Authority Climate Change Action Plan – IGBC Submission 24/10/17

We believe that the built environment impacts on many different sectors including transport, health and well being, land use, energy policy and that it plays a key role in solving many of the problems associated with each of these.

Part of the remit of the Irish Green Building Council is to clarify and connect different policies from different Government departments as it relates to the built environment. You can click through to the key resources by means of our website with a brief explanation of each policy or document.
