The Houses of the Oireachtas recently established a Citizens’ Assembly (CA) to consider the State’s response to the Biodiversity Loss Crisis. The Irish Green Building Council took this opportunity to make a submission on biodiversity loss and the built environment, to highlight challenges, but also the role of our industry in addressing this crisis
This submission was developed in close cooperation with our members. A survey was first sent to our membership in May 2022. Forty-eight stakeholders responded to it. This allowed us to develop the first draft of our submission which was discussed at a workshop in June 2022. A second iteration of the draft submission was discussed at a final workshop on August 12th. These workshops were attended by developers, contractors, building professionals, researchers, and construction product manufacturers.
