WHO IS THE IRISH GREEN BUILDING COUNCIL?
The Irish Green Building Council (IGBC) was established in 2011 as an independent, non-profit membership organisation, to provide leadership in the transformation to a sustainable built environment.
It is affiliated with 80 national Green Building Councils that form the World Green Building Council, the largest organisation influencing sustainable construction worldwide. It is the industry partner in Construct Innovate seeking to engage the Irish construction industry in practical applicable research and innovation.
WHO DO WE NEED?
IGBC operates a number of programmes including the Home Performance Index certification system for sustainable new homes, and EPD Ireland for manufacturers to declare the impact of their products. These are now scaling rapidly. You will join and support the team in driving continued success providing technical certification support and developing templates for users.
Professional attributes
You are very details orientated, interested in driving certification, quality assurance, with a construction background, energy management engineering, LCA or architecture etc.
Personal attributes
You are highly motivated to work with a green NGO, and must be passionate about sustainability in the built environment and highly organised with an interest in driving the future development of Home Performance Index.
Responsibilities will include
- Assessing evidence on projects for compliance with Home Performance Index requirements.
- Assist development of templates for different indicators such as Home User Manuals
- Assist development of the systems and platforms for certification to enable scaling of the system to include rapid turn around.
- Liaising with assessors for certification of homes including responding to day-to-day queries etc.
- Assisting with training of Home Performance Index assessors.
- Developing quality assurance processes for all our programmes.
Qualifications and Experience required
Ideally 3rd level with a preference for, engineering, energy management, construction related qualification. May have experience of building certification, building regulations -BC(A)R and sustainability indicators.
Skills required:
- Good practical general knowledge of construction.
- Exceptional project management, organisational and time management skills.
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge of energy management, auditing.
- Knowledge of BER, thermal bridging etc
- Knowledge or experience of certification schemes such as LEED, BREEAM, Well etc
Benefits
Indicative Salary €32,000 – €40,000 commensurate with relevant experience, skills and qualifications. This will be initially a two-year fixed contract with a six-month probationary period which can be extended. We can consider remote working or part time contracts due to living costs in Dublin but preference is for working in our 19 Mountjoy Square office, Dublin 1.
