World Green Building Week 2016

Healthy Buildings in Healthy Cities | 8am & 10.30am | 27 Sept

We spend 90% of our time inside buildings, so how do they influence our health and wellbeing? Join Cundall’s Sustainability Partner Alan Fogarty, to discuss how health and wellbeing and sustainability go hand in hand to create great buildings.

Tour of National Gallery Refurb | 8am – 10am | Wed 28 Sept

This is a tour of the recently refurbished historic Dargan and Milltown wings which will be re-opened to the public shortly. The tour will be led by Roisin Heneghan, Director of Heneghan Peng Architects who will outline the architectural approach to the project and Chris Croly, Director of BDP who will explain the environmental control strategies used within the project.

Tour of CREST Enniskillen | 11am – 12.30pm | Wed 28 Sept

This educational facility for South West College, doubles as a teaching model of sustainable construction for the local building sector and won the Sustainability Award at the RSUA Design Awards 2016.  The tour of the building, which will be led by Paul McAlister of Paul McAlister Architects, To reserve a place on this tour please contact Jeanette Hedley at [email protected]

Tour of UCC Western Gateway | 4pm – 5.30pm | Thurs 29 Sept

This state-of-the-art 25,000sqm five story low-energy building harnesses the energy of the river Lee, which flows directly below the site, in a water sourced heat pump which provides the buildings heating and cooling. The tour will be led by Eamonn Connaughton of UCC and Michael Keohane of PM Group.

Tour of Block B – Eastpoint | 8am – 9.30am | Fri 30 Sept

Block B was designed to be a futuristic, flexible and adaptable workplace with energy reduction at the heart of its transformation; the result was a flagship renovation project. Mac Interiors were the contractors responsible for the fit out which has achieved LEED Gold, and is heading for Platinum. The tour will be led by Penny Linton of Meehan Associates and Tiffany Quinn of Mac Interiors.

Tour 1 Albert Quay Cork | 4pm – 5.30pm | Fri 30 Sept

1 Albert Quay is set to become Ireland’s flagship sustainable office development designed to achieve a Gold LEED Precertification Accreditation. The tour will be led by Martin O’Brien (JCD) with a presentation from Roger Semple of Green REIT.  Also in attendance will be Pat Hogan  (HJL) – Architect, Martin Murphy (MMOS) – Engineer and Martin Buckley (M&E Designer and Leed Coordinator)
