The Wren Urban Nest Hotel is the first hotel in Ireland to comply with the World Green Building Council’s definition of ‘Net Zero Carbon’ without having to purchase carbon offsets. All their electricity is from 100% renewable energy. The hotel’s HVAC system transfers energy around the building and captures rejected heat from the cooling process to generate hot water. The heat recover ventilation system captures more than 80 per cent of rejected heat generated and then transfers it to heat the incoming fresh air from the roof. They have installed smart systems that minimise energy and water usage and the rooftop garden helps to promote biodiversity in the city.
