Circularity into practice at the Treasury Building

Join us for an exclusive tour of the Treasury Building. The project involved the Renovation and Extension of a 1946 steel framed building which was originally constructed as a Boland’s Bakery. It was previously converted and extended into offices in the 1980’s and now it is being extended and renovated again retaining the structural frame and majority of the facades taking a low Embodied Carbon approach wherever possible.

  • Dismantling and reuse of 85 tonnes of structural steel within the building.
  • Use of Low Embodied Carbon Structural Steel throughout.
  • Replacement of up to 70% of cement content in concrete mixes.
  • Reuse of existing Raised Access Floors in the building.
  • Salvaging of stone cladding for reuse.
  • On target to achieve ILFI ‘Zero Carbon’ Embodied Carbon which is below 500kgCO2e/m2
  • 46% reduction in Embodied Carbon from target.
