In 2016, the IGBC in conjunction with the Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment – DCCAE, ran an extensive consultation process to co-design an ambitious national renovation strategy for Ireland (Build Upon Project). This led to the publication of a comprehensive set of recommendations for a better national renovation strategy in early 2017.

Throughout the Build Upon process, workshop participants have constantly highlighted that a lack of skills presents one of the main risks to the successful implementation of the strategy. Against this background, IGBC will explore the opportunity of introducing a customer-friendly environmental certification for construction professionals as part of the ECCoPro project.

Join us on that day and learn more about the ECCoPro Project.

Full meeting agenda to be published shortly.

This event is organised as part of World Green Building Week 2017.

ECCoPro is partly funded by SEAI.

  • Building skills capacity for renovation

Upgrading our homes so that they use less energy is one of the most cost-effective ways to reduce Ireland’s greenhouse-gas emissions. Energy renovation can also improve the lives of people who experience fuel poverty. However, poor quality retrofits can potentially have a detrimental impact on a property and the health of its occupants.
