In recent years, the Irish Government has introduced ambitious targets and measures to upgrade the levels of energy efficiency in our homes. However, the depth and rate of energy renovation remain low in Ireland.
The IGBC believe that an evaluation of the national retrofit programmes needs to happen in real-time to allow rapid adjustments and support faster scale-up of energy efficiency upgrades in Ireland. This review is also needed to ensure Ireland’s National Retrofit programme delivers real carbon savings and supports a just transition.
To deliver on these objectives, the IGBC is setting up an energy renovation working group focusing on the residential sector.
The first meeting of the working group will take place on Thursday, 5th October September from 9.30 to 11 am in the IGBC’s office, 19 Mountjoy Square East, Dublin 1. The objective of this meeting is to gain a better understanding of what is currently working/not working or could be improved, and to develop a strategy for the year. Thereafter, meetings will take place bi-monthly at the IGBC or online (to be agreed upon with members of the group).
If you are interested in joining us for this first meeting and/or if you have any questions, please RSVP to [email protected] by Friday, 15th September.
