The Irish Green Building Council (IGBC) is launching a new Community of Practice during World Green Building Week– a dedicated forum to collaborate, innovate, and share best practices in reducing lifecycle carbon emissions in the built environment.
Topic: Carbon in the Built Environment- Understanding Lifecycle Carbon
Starting September 2025, this cross-disciplinary group will meet quarterly to explore key topics surrounding the measurement and reduction of lifecycle emissions. The Community of Practice is designed to encourage open discussion and collaboration, bringing together professionals from across the building industry to make complex concepts clear, practical, and actionable.
Each session will feature 1–2 expert presentations, followed by interactive group discussions, where members can:
- Share challenges and solutions
- Learn from peers across different sectors
- Build their knowledge and practical understanding of lifecycle carbon reduction
This cross-disciplinary Community of Practice will be chaired by Banbha McCann, Sustainability Lead, Henry J Lyons Architects & John Casey, Director, CORA Consulting Engineers.
This first session will feature a keynote speech by architect Rachel Hoolohan, Associate Director & Sustainability Lead at Orms in London, as well as a deep dive discussion with leading experts to help participants better understand lifecycle carbon and upcoming regulatory changes.
