The Programme for Government has provided a commitment of an annual 7% reduction emissions or 51% over the decade to 2030 and following this, achieving net zero emissions by 2050 . This will be managed by establishing a new system of ‘carbon budgeting’, firstly over 2 consecutive 5-year periods (2025; 2030) and then up to 2050.
The Government is calling for expert submissions to inform them of possible actions to be included in the follow up to the current Climate Action Plan 2019. The IGBC is delighted to invite its members to a workshop to discuss what actions are necessary to decarbonise the Built Environment. Your contribution will directly inform our submission to the Department of Climate Action’s consultation on Ireland Climate Action Plan 2021.
