The Carbon in the Built Environment Community of Practice (CoP) brings together professionals from across the built environment sector to share knowledge, explore emerging best practices and address the challenges associated with measuring and reducing life-cycle carbon emissions.

For the fourth Carbon CoP meeting of 2026, the focus will be on SEAI’s Lifecycle Global Warming Potential (GWP) methodology.

This in-person session will provide an opportunity to learn more about the methodology, hear practical examples and discuss the challenges and questions that arise when applying lifecycle carbon approaches in practice.

What to Expect

The session will include:

  • Keynote presentation from SEAI on its Lifecycle GWP methodology
  • Case study examples demonstrating the application of lifecycle carbon approaches
  • Discussion and problem-solving around practical challenges
  • An opportunity to ask questions and share experiences with fellow practitioners

The methodology is particularly relevant as Lifecycle GWP will soon become mandatory for new buildings in Ireland, making it increasingly important for professionals across the sector to understand what it means and how it can be applied.

This is a Community of Practice, so the session is designed to encourage discussion and knowledge sharing.

Bring your questions, challenges or examples from your own work and take the opportunity to discuss them with peers and practitioners working across the built environment.
