Neighbourwood Communities

Contents

NeighbourWood Communities is an Irish climate infrastructure company building net-zero homes permanently linked to restored native woodland. Our 10:1 Model pairs every ten BER A1 homes with every one hectare of native woodland restored — woodland held forever by an independent trust, legally bound to the homes by a validated legal covenant. Ten homes, one hundred, one thousand. The ratio holds.

Each home will be built to Passivhaus envelope performance, with an integrated energy package: rooftop solar PV, battery storage, heat pump, EV charging, and whole-home water treatment. Homeowners pay a transparent annual fee and remain net better off through direct operational savings on energy and water.
The woodland generates verified carbon, biodiversity, and water restoration outcomes (NRS Credits) that fund home affordability, community investment, and the next hectare of restoration. This makes housing delivery and ecosystem restoration two halves of the same profitable equation — a working answer to Ireland’s housing, biodiversity, and energy challenges, and a model designed for export into the UK and EU.
Founders Neal and Esther Anderson are based in Dublin and will purchase a home in the pilot community at full market price. NeighbourWood Communities is a member of the Irish Green Building Council, Construct Innovate, and the All-Island Climate and Biodiversity Research Network, and is on the path to B Corporation certification.
