IGBC Communities of Practice

Join IGBC’s Communities of Practice, collaborative spaces for professionals to share insights, tackle challenges, and drive sustainability in the built environment.

Contents

The IGBC Communities of Practice (CoPs) are collaborative learning groups for professionals committed to advancing sustainability in the built environment. These spaces bring together practitioners, project teams, and decision-makers to share challenges, explore innovative solutions, and build capacity in key areas of sustainability.

Unlike a typical webinar, CoPs foster deeper engagement through ongoing dialogue, peer-to-peer learning, case study exchange, and practical insights that help organisations accelerate meaningful change.

Current Communities of Practice

  • Biodiversity & the Built Environment – Explore how to protect and enhance nature in design, planning, and construction.
  • Carbon in the Built Environment – Share knowledge and tackle challenges related to whole-life carbon in buildings.
  • GPP – Exchange ideas and solutions to embed Green Public Procurement effectively across the procurement process

How to Join

Participation is open to IGBC members and invited partners. Register your interest via the IGBC website or contact our Education team. Contributions are encouraged, whether presenting a project, facilitating a discussion, or sharing tools and best practices.

Session Structure & Frequency

CoPs meet quarterly, online or in person, with additional working groups as needed. Sessions typically include:

  • Expert presentations to spark discussion
  • Panel conversations with industry leaders
  • Interactive Q&A and networking opportunities

Each session focuses on themes aligned with IGBC’s core topics or emerging industry priorities identified by the group.
