European developer Hammerson becomes gold member of the Irish Green Building Council.
The Irish Green Building Council is a charity and membership organisation. It was established by frontrunners within the construction and property sectors in 2011. The Council and its 120 members work together for a sustainable built environment.
Louise Ellison, Head of Sustainability at Hammerson said: “We have set the ambitious target to be a Net Positive Company for environmental impacts by 2030. Industry leaders like Hammerson must move in that direction if we are to tackle climate change. We are excited to join the IGBC and we look forward to collaborating with like-minded organisations”.
Hammerson co-owns Dundrum Town Centre, the Ilac Centre in Dublin and Swords Pavilions. It also owns a stake in Kildare Village, and is developing a new urban quarter in the north inner city, around Upper O’Connell Street.
Pat Barry CEO at the Irish Green Building Council added: “I am delighted to welcome Hammerson into IGBC membership as a gold member. This category is for businesses who really commit at a strategic level to sustainability and want to collaborate with us to achieve it. We look forward to working with Hammerson for a better built environment.”
