Builders in Cork and Dublin are the first of 200 builders to start on the Foundation Energy Skills (FES) training course. The course, designed for Building Construction Workers, launched successfully last month in Dublin and Cork, with courses in other parts of Ireland starting soon. This is a three-day course, delivered as full-day training over a number weeks or as an evening course with one Saturday demonstration day. The course is a pilot training programme under the QualiBuild project, which is phase II of the BUILD UP Skills programme in Ireland.

The FES course focuses on an improved attitude on how to carry out construction and develop higher expectations in Quality and Workmanship (i.e. what is acceptable work). With the FES course comes an opportunity to focus on Quality and Efficiency of new construction and retrofitting practices and challenge the way building construction workers work, process and understand the end goal (i.e. system thinking).

Four courses were launched, 1 day course and 1 evening course each in Dublin and in Cork. The Cork courses are being delivered at the Cork Institute of Technology, including the demonstration day, while the Dublin courses are being taught at the Institute of Technology Blanchardstown, with the demonstration day at the ETB centre in Ballyfermot.

There are still places available on the FES courses starting at the end of this month in Limerick, Galway and Cavan. Places are filling up fast, so click here to learn more and book your place. Three further courses are planned for the new year, with locations to be announced soon.
