9.00am – 6.00pm
Learn about the key strategies for designing climate responsive green buildings.
The course will give the attendant the basic practical knowledge to design envelopes of green and energy efficient buildings, from the early design stage to more detailed analysis. The course will focus on bioclimatic design including an understanding of wind flows, natural ventilation, sunlight, daylight and how to take these into account in the design process to achieve better energy efficiency, whilst achieving a comfortable and economically viable building. It also looks at the tools and simulation to help achieve this.
The attendants will learn
- Principles of envelope bioclimatic design
- Designing for daylight
- Passive solar shading
- Different approaches to natural and mixed mode ventilation
- Tools to assist in achieving better quality environment
- Integrating renewables
Who should attend this course?
The course is designed for, project managers, architects, engineers, property advisors, academics, contractors and anyone else with a responsibility for investing in, procuring and developing buildings. The course is adapted for those with a basic or limited knowledge of green design for buildings or wishing to gain a practical understanding of how to implement green design throughout the development of a project.
