WHO IS THE IRISH GREEN BUILDING COUNCIL?
The Irish Green Building Council (IGBC) was established in 2011 as an independent, non-profit membership organisation, to provide leadership in the transformation to a sustainable built environment. The IGBC is made up of the most progressive organisations working in the Irish Property and construction sector.
It is affiliated with 70 national Green Building Councils that form the World Green Building Council, the largest organisation influencing sustainable construction worldwide. IGBC is now one of the most rapidly growing membership organisations with over 430 corporate members with year on year growth of 25% for the past 5 years.
Role Overview:
The role is pivotal within Irish Green Building Council, responsible for developing and executing strategies to grow and retain the organisation’s membership. It involves managing membership services, enhancing member engagement, connecting relevant IGBC staff with members and ensuring members receive exceptional value from their membership. The ideal candidate will be passionate about creating transformative change in the built environment, possess strong leadership skills, and have a proven track record in membership management or a related field.
Key Responsibilities:
- Member Retention and Engagement:
- Design and oversee member retention programs to ensure high levels of satisfaction and engagement.
- Develop and co-ordinate with other staff particularly learning and development lead and initiatives to enhance member involvement, such as task groups, events, webinars, workshops, and networking opportunities.
- Foster a strong sense of community among members through regular communication, feedback mechanisms, and engagement platforms.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality services and benefits to members, including access to resources, programmes, and industry insights.
- Continuously evaluate and enhance the value proposition offered to members, staying abreast of industry trends and member needs.
- Manage and improve the association’s membership management systems and processes to streamline operations and improve member experience.
- Collaboration:
- Strengthen the strategic relationship between IGBC and Construct Innovate including closer collaboration on working groups and member engagement with research.
- Work closely with marketing, events, and advocacy team, to align membership initiatives with broader organisational goals.
- Represent the association at industry events, conferences, and meetings, promoting the benefits of membership and expanding the association’s network.
- Strategic Membership Growth:
- Develop and implement comprehensive membership growth strategies to attract new members from diverse sectors within the green building industry.
- Identify and target potential member segments.
- Monitor and analyze membership trends and data to inform strategy and improve membership acquisition and retention efforts.
- Reporting:
- Prepare and present regular reports on membership metrics, performance, and strategic initiatives for board of directors.
Personal Qualities
- Passionate about promoting sustainable building practices and the mission of the Irish Green Building Council
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and the ability to use data to drive decisions.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, sustainability, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in membership management, business development, or a related role within a professional association or non-profit organization.
- Demonstrated success in growing and retaining membership bases and enhancing member engagement.
Desirable skills
- Strong understanding of the green building industry and sustainability practices.
- Proficient in using CRM systems such as hubspot.

- Salary €48,000 – €58,000 dependent on experiences and skills

The position is based at IGBC’s office in 19 Mountjoy Square. A flexible work arrangement, including remote work options, may be available. A part time position could be considered for the right candidate.
