What are Renovation Roadmaps?
Under article 2a of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive, each Member State shall establish a long-term renovation strategy to support the renovation of the national stock of residential and non-residential buildings, both public and private, into a highly energy efficient and decarbonised building stock by 2050. A V.3 of the renovation strategy must be delivered by Ireland by 10th March 2020.
A copy of the current version of Ireland’s National Renovation Strategy is available here.
Why are these roadmaps important?
The roadmaps are intended to increase the rate of renovation taking place by creating policy and fiscal certainty, allowing investors to make long term decisions.
The details of the national renovation strategy is critical to deliver a “fully decarbonised built environment that delivers a better quality of life for all”. How will we finance the long term investment strategy required for our building stock over the next 35 years? How will we reach our climate targets? All these questions will be answered by Ireland’s National Renovation Strategy V.3.
Why is your input needed?
A roadmap of this importance needs to be based on a shared long term vision. Consultation with industry and wider society is needed so that this roadmap is as robust, ambitious and workable as possible.
This workshop is designed to allow stakeholders to explore all initiatives that could allow us to move to large-scale deep-renovation.
