SPEAKERS
Adrian Joyce is Secretary General of the European Alliance of Companies for Energy Efficiency in Buildings (EuroACE), whose members are Europe’s leading companies that provide the products, equipment and services that go together to create high energy performance in buildings. Adrian Joyce is also the Campaign Director of the Renovate Europe Campaign, which was initiated by EuroACE in 2011 in order to stop energy waste in buildings. Its ambition is to reduce the energy demand of the building stock in the EU by 80% by 2050 as compared to 2005.
Ali Grehan is the City Architect at Dublin City Council and leads the City Council team responsible for developing a broad urban design agenda including the delivery of diverse projects in relation to housing, public realm, community and cultural infrastructure. Her career has spanned private practice in Dublin, London and Bilbao, and in the Public Sector; where her particular focus has been on large-scale urban regeneration. Prior to becoming City Architect, Ali was Chief Architect with Ballymun Regeneration Ltd.
Krystyna Rawicz has over 35 years of experience in Project Management and Building Surveying. In that time, she has worked in both private and local governments sectors. She established her project management and building surveying company, KRA Visionary Project Partners in 2020, and KRA Renewables in 2018 to implement sustainability and renewable energy measures into their existing clients’ building stock.
Fergal Cantwell is a Project Manager with EnviroBead Retrofit, an Energy Upgrade Specialist Company. He has over twenty-five years experience in the construction Industry and has been working in the Energy Upgrade business since 2016. Working with Local Authorities, Housing Associations and Private Homeowners, EnviroBead Retrofit provide a ‘One Stop Shop’ solution for Energy Upgrades, securing Grant Funding through the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) various programmes since 2012
John Cunningham has responsibility for both capital, operational and maintenance housing programmes in the Housing section of Offaly County Council. John qualified in 1997 with a Bachelor of engineering degree and went on to complete a Master of Engineering Science degree in 1999. In 2004 John completed a second masters in Engineering Management as well as attaining the title of Chartered Engineer. Following 10 years in the automotive industry John moved to the local authority sector and has enjoyed over 15 years working in all of the technical sections of Offaly County Council.
Peter Cox is the founding member of Carrig Conservation and has gained over thirty five years international experience of stone conservation in historic buildings and all types of porous building materials. Peter has a primary degree in chemical engineering and a masters in material science and has worked in the analysis of decay of masonry, the treatment of stone and mortar in conservation of historic buildings, Peter has been an active member of ICOMOS Ireland for many years and is both a past vice president and president of ICOMSO Ireland. Peter is President of the ICOMOS “International Scientific Committee on Energy & Sustainability” (ISCES) including Climate Change.
Brian Cassidy joined Cork City Council’s social housing maintenance department in 2008. Brian is responsible for the retrofitting of Cork City Councils social housing stock. Brian has collaborated with both public and private bodies to improve the energy efficiency of Council homes through shallow, medium and deep energy efficiency retrofitting projects. Brian leads Cork City Councils retrofitting team on a number of European Funded projects that seek to increase awareness of the need for retrofitting, demonstrate innovative approaches to reducing carbon consumption, and examine ways in which retrofitting can be done more productively. Brian is a member of Engineers Ireland Executive Board and a member of the Construction Services Groups Consultation Committee on Research into Disruptive Innovation for Sustainability and Climate Action. Brian is Cork City Councils representative on the IGBC BuildUpon2 project.
