Considering the projected growth in the residential construction market, how can we enable public and private procurers to develop better homes? One way is to certify new homes with the Home Performance Index quality mark.
This is the first Irish system to certify new homes and apartments for quality and sustainability. It complements existing schemes in the commercial sector such as LEED. It was developed by the Irish Green Building Council (IGBC) with the support of the EPA. Find out more about it and the other tools developed by IGBC by attending an upcoming evening briefing in conjunction with Energy Cork. The IGBC CEO Pat Barry will speak about:
- The benefits of the Home Performance Index to home builders and buyers, local authorities, architects, FDI clients and financial institutions
- Environmental Product Declaration (EPD). This is a verified and registered document that communicates transparent and comparable information about the life-cycle environmental impact of products. IGBC has just started this global programme in Ireland.
- Nearly Zero Energy Building How can we meet the NZEB standard for new homes?
John Morehead from Wain Morehead Architects will speak about his experience of the certification process for the Home Performance Index.
