Energy Action’s annual Fuel Poverty Conference will facilitate dialogue between regulators, local authorities, politicians, health experts, researchers, private contractors, energy companies and the various agencies supporting vulnerable people. The aim of the conference is to provide a forum for those working in the area of fuel poverty, to share key information, experience and perspectives in order to identify lasting solutions to the issue.
Some examples of the range of issues to be addressed during the conference are:
- Housing Health and Well-being: Professor Christine Liddell, Professor of Psychology & Distinguished Community Fellow, University of Ulster will present the keynote address.
- The Role of Energy Suppliers in Delivering a Solution to Fuel Poverty: Speakers from Electric Ireland, Bord Gáis Energy and SSE Airtricity will participate in this session.
- Energy Affordability and Retrofit: Ken Cleary, Assistant Principal Officer Energy Affordability and Low Carbon Roadmap, Department Communications, Energy & Natural Resources will present on the New Energy Affordability Strategy and Energy White Paper. John Randles, Head of Delivery, SEAI will deliver the Better Energy Programme Update.
The day’s programme will also feature a number of workshops including “The Role of the Energy Regulator in Protecting the Fuel Poor” and “East Payment Schemes for Oil”
