The theme of this year’s World Green Building Week is Building Resilience for climate, people and economies.
As global temperatures rise, adaptation to the effects of climate change requires action to both manage the risks and to make adjustments to reduce our vulnerabilities. How can we adapt our built environment to prepare for changes in our climate? What modifications need to be made to the design of our buildings and infrastructure to take into account predicted future impacts?
Join us for this Climate Change Adaptation webinar with a presentation from Alan Fogarty Sustainability Partner at Cundall on how developments need to be designed to be able to withstand the impacts of climate change while limiting the need for energy intensive solutions. This will cover optimisation of passive measures, design for natural ventilation, the benefits of cross ventilation, low energy mechanical measures and protective landscaping and touching on rainfall, SUDS, biodiversity and the integration of PV with green roofs.
The presentation will be followed by a panel discussion on how to plan for resilience in our built environment featuring:
Alan Fogarty, Sustainability Partner, Cundall
Dr. Aoife Corcoran, Sustainability Advisor, Housing Agency
Dr. Stephen Flood, Irish Climate Analysis and Research Unit, Maynooth University
Maryann Harris, Nature Based Solutions Lead, Climate Action Regional Offices (CARO)
