Members only-Lunch and Learn
Carbon emissions are released not only during the operational life of a building but also during the manufacturing, transportation, construction and end-of-life phases. These emissions are referred to as embodied carbon. As operational carbon is reduced, embodied carbon will continue to grow in importance as a proportion of total emissions.
The IGBC Roadmap to Net Zero emphasizes the urgent need for a minimum 50% reduction in upfront embodied carbon by 2030, setting an ambitious target in the journey toward Net Zero. The IGBC has collaborated with University College Galway in the Upfront CO2 project and researched approaches to reduce embodied carbon across a range of building typologies.
Join this Lunch and Learn webinar to engage with our panel of experts to address your queries and deepen your understanding of embodied carbon reduction strategies.
Speakers
Stephen Barrett – IGBC Carbon Lead will talk about IGBC work on Embodied Carbon and the assessments and results from the research
Dr Paul Moran – Lecturer- University of Galway– presenting research on the mitigation aspects of Upfront research and the mitigation strategies
