The commercial sector is coming to the realisation that promoting wellbeing is one of the key returns on investment for greener buildings. This seminar will give insight into the latest research from World Green Building Council’s project Better Places for People which looks at offices, retail and now residential.
Health and wellbeing has always been at the heart of Green certification schemes such as BREEAM, LEED and Ireland newest certification for the housing sector the Home Performance Index. The new WELL certification standard which focuses specifically on wellbeing is now sweeping the international property sector. Are there any contradictions between better health and wellbeing and carbon and energy savings and how do we resolve this. Can focusing on health and wellbeing stimulate better buildings, renovation and carbon savings?

Speaker: Ann Marie Aguilar, Associate Director, Wellbeing and Sustainability, Arup London
Ann Marie Aguilar has been with Arup for 10 years; currently an Associate Director at Arup Associates. She was the first WELL Accredited Professional (AP) from the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) outside the U.S. Her 17 years of global project experience range in scale from individual buildings to small city developments and identify a clear sustainability vision, objectives, and measurable targets. She has extensive experience in LEED/WELL Certifications, material deconstruction and material reuse processes. As a WELL Faculty at the IWBI, Ann Marie is the first point of contact for clients interested in all portfolio types of WELL Certification (C&S, NC, TI, District) and provides strategic direction for the growth of the WELL Building Standard, supporting “Early Adopters”, communicating client experience and supporting the alignment of country specific sustainability rating tools.
