We are happy to share that Pat Barry, CEO of the Irish Green Building Council, has been appointed as the Chair of the European Regional Network (ERN) of the World Green Building Council for the next two years.
The ERN is a community comprising over 20 national Green Building Councils and nearly 5,000 members across Europe. As an active member of this group, the IGBC is honoured to assume this new position in the network and Pat’s objective as a chair is to play a leading role in fostering collaboration among these influential organizations.
“I am deeply honoured to lead the ERN during this crucial moment for climate action,” says Pat Barry. “The next number of years will be crucial if we are to stay within 1.5 degrees of global warming. With the built environment influencing about half of European emissions from operational, embodied carbon, and the transport emissions from how we plan our settlements, towns and cities, the 20 + European Green Building Councils must play a crucial role in transitioning Europe to net zero. By working in ever closer collaboration, we can exert more influence at a European level showing pathways to net zero that are just and create a better quality of life for all’’
